Irving is good at telling the stories of his sea adventures as he and his wife Exy, as we called her here, traveled the globe in their schooner Yankee. But this journey on the four masted bark, the Peking,was only his story to tell, since he hadn't met Electa yet. This adventure is full of weird tales of human and animal behavior and what strange phenomena he saw at sea, both animate an inanimate. People lost their lives on this boat on other journeys moving cargo. It is a must read even if you don't like boating. It seems like Irving is talking right to you about his life and it makes him come alive, eventhough he has been gone awhile. We miss you!
