I wanted to hear some of the early music from Sweet that I had never heard before. Most of the music is head-bobbing, toe-tapping music that would be classified as bubble-gum. It has very little of the hard rock sound that I expect from Sweet. Some of the music reminds me of folk songs in the genre of Woody Guthrie, while some of the songs have more of a "Beach Boys" sound; some have a tropical or Jamaican flavor. I enjoy popping this CD is my car player occasionally. The lyrics are innocent and the music is cheerful. It takes my mind off of more serious things and puts me in a good mood.
Classic bubblegum rock by The Sweet! Includes the big hits singles "Little Willy" and "Wig-Wam Bam" plus lots of bonus songs. The outtake "Be With You Soon" just cooks...maybe my favorite song on the CD. "Reflections" is a nice cover of the Diana Ross hit. "Tom Tom Turnaround" is unlike any song The Sweet ever recorded. "You're Not Wrong For Loving Me" is a pretty ballad with lucious harmonies. If you like bublegum rock, get "The Sweet: First Recordings 1968-1971". TK
