Mick Box is the only original member of the band still playing, but he has done his best to keep this current version of the group true to the original vision and sound in my opinion. Does it sound exactly like the Heep recordings of the late 60s and into the 70s when their popularity surged in England and the states? With modern technology and 40 more years of guitar experience for Box, no, and if expecting that I think you would be foolish. These new songs are good. All band members play excellently. Singer Bernie Shaw can wail. The song titles and lyrics show a connection to the Heep of old which I find amazing after all these years. I have a great fondness for Uriah Heep. They were one of the first big rock acts I saw live as a teenager. They don't come "across the pond" much anymore, but the last time they did I was lucky enough to get to see them a few years back. The sounds of this newest CD Wake The Sleeper makes me hope they will come back to the states again for another chance to check them out.Read full review
While not the same as the early works, it is a good CD with an updated sound by the current version of Uriah Heep. I would recommend it to any fan or collector of Uriah Heep’s work
