This is a side project of 4/5 of Mercyful Fate, minus King Diamond. I like it because it shows a different side of the members of Fate. Martin Steene (of Iron Fire)on vocals reminds me at times of Jacques Belanger (of Exciter) and also a bit of Jim Gillette (of Nitro)when he sings in deeper tones. The style is European power metal in the vein of newer M. Fate circa In The Shadows or Time. Standout tracks include The Calling (Force of Evil's theme song), Samhain, Under The Blade, and the closing ballad, Eternity. The songs are heavy but memorable, varying from 4-6 minutes in length. I would recommend this record to all fans of Fate and of heavy powerful metal in general.
