I ordered the 8241/18, because it is a far better shave than my latest-state-of-the-art 9300 (which broke beyond repair) and the replacement 9800 top-of-the-line Norelco. (I’m not the only one who thinks the 8000 series shaves better; I’ve seen the same comment on other reviews. As for the seller, great job. The “used” shaver I got (Norelco doesn’t sell the 8241/18 anymore) had new Norelco blades and was clean as a whistle (sanitized).

These were the wrong blades. They were not the original blades. I will never use them because they only have one cutting blade.

Norelco user for 40+ years. As a general statement, their models have gotten sh*ttier and sh*ttier over the years: Longevity: Down; Ease of use and cleaning: Down; Recharging capability and retention of charge: Down; Retention of blade(s) sharpness: Down; Most other parameters: Down...... The Philips Norelco 8240XL model, which is out of production (of course), however, is, IMHO, the zenith of Philips Norelco capability. Several years ago I purchased three of this model (1 as a gift for BIL, 2 for personal use). Unintentionally stumbled across this one on eBay for a reasonable price, so now I have three for personal use.
This is just my 3rd Norelco Rotary in 27 years. They last forever and the only reason I replaced the 2nd one is because the battery wasn't holding a charge anymore-but it still worked with the cord plugged in. That said, this model shaves even closer than the first two and after several weeks of use, the battery is still on the original charge. The thing I don't like is that the head is hinged for cleaning, whereas the others would come completely off.
I have been using Norelco electric shavers ever since I can remember. This is another in a long series of top quality products. It is easy use, shaves me close, and is just an overall superb electric shaver. The company offers some in the $150 and more price range, but I don't see how adding some extra whistles and bells will sahve you any better than the 8240XL.
