I didn't think it could possibly be bad: and it wasn't. More like incredible! Two people who genuinely love each other, each a giant in music individually, who had so much fun at THIS performance that they decided to take it on tour. It almost seemed like Carole was holding back a bit at the beginning, almost like she wasn't trusting her voice. But then she cut loose - and it was perfect. From that point on they clicked. There is so much common history, and by bringing it home to this important venue in both their lives separately AND together, and supported by the band that has been there all along, it was all just magic. Peter Asher producing, just like it he did in the beginning with the first Troubadour show they did when Kootch (Danny Kortchmar) first introduced them - and of course he's playing rhythm guitar here. Just an amazing performance; a must-have for our generation, a lesson in how great music can be for every other one.Read full review

James Taylor came to our town for a concert in the early '70s and his "warm up" act was relatively unknown performer named Carole King. Back then we paid more attention to the recording artist rather than the songwriter. The promoter introduced Carole saying that she wrote all the songs she would be playing and we were surprised that we knew them all! This recording is excellent, both for the performance and the audio quality. Highly recommended.

This CD is a collection of 2 of the all time great singer song writers. James Taylor and Carole King. They are the songs of my generation. The melodies flow so well and the lyrics are taken from a page of my life. But not only are they 2 of my favorites but they used the original session players that cut the original records. This is something that is unheard of these days. So the reproduction of the songs is magic. Each musician leaves his personal style, sound, or finger print if you will on a song. These guys were not only their session guys of choice but their life long friends as well. So it's like sitting down to listen to some of my old friends too. There is a line from a James Taylor song called That's why I'm here, that goes like this. Fortune and fame is a curious game, prefect strangers call you by name, they pay good money to hear Fire and Rain, again and again and again. Well, that's why I bought this because no matter how many times I hear his and Carole's music I will never tire of it! I don't know if it's just because it takes me back to when I was a kid and just discovering music and girls or just girls. Either way this CD is great. Both artists are class acts. And both pay homage to their fellow musicians who helped to make both of them super stars. I thoroughly enjoyed it.Read full review

This is a must buy for Carole King and James Taylor fans. They are two of my all-time favorites. Originally watched this on PBS and knew I had to have it on CD/DVD. A great mixture of 15 recordings mixed in with their personal feelings. I gave the DVD of this to my brother for him to enjoy, with strict orders to eventually return it. Even the two songs which could have been left off, "Blossom" and "Machine Gun Kelly" were enjoyable and did not distract from from the other recognizable songs.
