Old Gene Wilder movie spoof on the Frankenstein Story. Wilder is a professor of Anatomy who inherits his family's ancestral castle in Transylvania. He goes there to put aside the family ridicule and shame. Teri Garr, young and lovely now, is Wilder's assistant. Marty Feldman is the hunchback, and Peter Boyle is the creature. Lots of one liners and nutty comedy in this movie filled with the "usual Suspects" make this Mel Brooks classic both funny and silly. Still well done in that black and white retro style of the 1970's. Some parts are truly funny.
vhs tapes are better than dvds and this one was way cheaper to.

Young Frankenstein is a comedy classic, with the unforgettable late-great comics Marty Feldmen and Madeline Kahn and Peter Doyle (Frank from Everybody Loves Raymond).... and Gene Wilder, Cloris Leachman and more familiar faces. The first watching is fun because its so corny, but after that, this movie just gets better, with memorable lines and funny scenes that are so original even though various Frankenstein movies have been made so many times. When people say "they don't make movies like THAT anymore" this most certainly must one of them they are holding up as a shining example of pure movie magic.
Full Screen Edition. Purchased for others to enjoy. A funny film in the Mel Brooks tradition. If you enjoy Mel's offbeat humor, this is one of his best. Well worth the money.
Terrific satire on Frankenstein type movies.First half is slow going, but second half is really good. Some of jokes were corny, but a lot of the humour was very clever.Scene with Gene Hackman as the hermit with Peter Boyle as Frankenstein visiting is really a classic.
