Until I got this cd, my life had no meaning, no purpose.
Why would anyone in their right mind ever use the edited single version of "Just To Be Close To You" on a Commodores anthology? But there I was, with the 3 minute version on my cd. This "Ultimate Collection" remedies that problem, and now I have proof that Lionel Ritchie once belonged on Soul Train. The spoken intro is what I longed to hear, and the way he pronounces "purpose" is worth a lot more than I paid for this cd. This is just one of the great examples of the spoken intro that was a sub genre of seventies soul. Mel & Tim's "Starting All Over Again", and The Chi-Lites "Have You Seen Her" come to mind. Mel and Tim's exhcange was axed from the 45, so you need to find the lp verison of that song as well. Moral of the ...
