About this product

Product Information

A wry and winsome film about a freshman film student in New York City who is made an offer he can't refuse by a Mafia don who is the spitting image of Don Corleone. As he weighs the romance against the danger of his association, he finds himself rapidly more involved. The Godfather himself, Marlon Brando, brilliantly reprises his famous role in this oddly affecting comedy.

Good price. Fast shipping/arrived a day before expected. Item as described w/the exception of a couple of tiny scratches I saw as soon as I looked at the back of the 1st DVD but aren't bad and don't affect play. Secure packaging for transit across the miles. Buy with confidence. 5⭐ Seller

HAPPY HAPPY CUSTOMER! Beautifully wrapped and speedily shipped mug. I feel like the condition is even better than the cautious seller described/warned/photographed, due to the clearly spelled-out, As-Is cracks, which were *smaller* than I was prepared for. (Better than bigger!!) I just couldn't be happier, nor recommend this seller any higher. A+++++++++++++

    EBay DELIVERS!

Thank You so very much, eBay. For years &years, we had been trying to find copy. We think it one of the great unheralded comedies. Finally, a friend said - Have you tried eBay? One can find anything on eBay - & Voila! Brand new, never opened, played superbly. Please thank the supplier; & many thanks to you all atBay; the ordering & checkout could not have been simpler; it arrived on time - You all have provided a reunion with a film fondly remembered -we all sat right down the evening of its arrival and - Enjoyed, Enjoyed, Enjoyed.

  • Now a Graduate student.

The 2 most enjoyable things in this movie are the conceit of Marlon Brando playing a mobster who resembles Marlon Brando in the Godfather and the over the top touch of having a tuxedoed Bert Parks belt out Maggie's Farm to a millionaire's club of gourmets who dine on endangered species. From what I read at the time, Brando was quite clueless that this was a comedy and didn't care for it at all, although this isn't reflected in his performance. Matthew Broderick is still as bland as ever although it's still more enjoyable than the travesty of his attempting the Gene Wilder role in that horrible remake of the "Producers." My main reason for seeing this movie, from at the time of its release to purchasing it now was due to my admiration and enjoyment of the writer-director Andrew Bergman's ...

  • High art arising from light comedy

"The Freshman" is an unforgettable film. It surprises with understated wit, seamless plot development, brilliant acting ... and balances hilarity with moments of emotional poignancy that give this film depth. It is a film to enjoy and love for that surprising undercurrent of depth of feeling ... which is the sturdy rudder steering the plot to a lovely conclusion. For this is not just about a naive Vermont (or is that Montanna?) freshman stumbling his way not only through surreal Manhattan but a Manhattan Mafia don's scam ("Scam is such an ugly word," says Marlon Brando with aplomb, and we find ourselves roaring with laughter ... again and again). No, this great film, perhaps Brando's best in his understated parody of The Godfather figure, gets into his soul and that of the virginal youth ...

  • A Must See Movie

This movie is so clever and the acting is superb it has become one of my favorite movies. This is something that should be watched without commercials. Matthew Broderick and Marlon Brando are fabulous together. The plot is great and Penelope Ann Miller is a star. love this movie.

  • Great Funny Movie

I have watched this movie many times. It is a great oddball comedy. Even when you know what is going to happen you still have to laugh. There are several lines from the movie that my wife and I quote all the time. The casting is perfect.
