I spent several weeks looking at different cameras before settling on the Dimage z1 camera. I would highly recommend it to anyone needing a good macro camera. Pros of the Camera 1) The Macro feature is the best I have found for closeups of items for eBay 2) The zoom feature is nice although I don't use it. 3) The video feature takes crisp clear pictures 4) Compared to some cameras, this has one of the best manual settings. I have been able to adjust easily with the menus to make my pictures even better. 5) The speed of the pictures is great - unless taking pictures of red clothing. Cons of the Camera There are a few little quirks about the camera that I dislike that made me give this a 4/5. 1) The camera itself is bulky. In the store I thought it was a really handy feature. Once home I found it heavy and sort of awkward when taking hundreds of pictures at a time. This feature makes it really inconvenient for those quick snap shots of my kids. 2) The zoom feature is fragile. I have paid to have this fixed twice! That's from it falling when the tripod fell over. It's easily knocked off it's track. And it's not cheap - it cost $165 to get it fixed the first time! 3) It really eats up batteries...and it takes 4 at a time! The best option is to buy 12 rechargeables and keep them charging. 4) For some reason my camera really hates taking pictures of black clothing...it's a quirk I deal with. 5) The expense of this camera makes it less than ideal, unless you can use it for a variety of uses. Overall I give this a 4/5 rating. If you want a more professional camera, this is great. If you are looking for a simple snap-shot camera, I would not purchase this camera.Read full review
I tested it after receiving it. it looks new. Image quality is sharp and clear. I owned 2 of the very same model in 2009 and used them to photograph and video my daughter's wedding. It came out great. This Minolta is an amazing little camera. I also appreciated the good sized 128GB SD Card and the nice and sturdy camera case it came in. Minolta really made the best cameras. I own 3 Minolta 35mm cameras also but don't use them anymore. Digital is better, cheaper and easier. This camera is also very good for MACRO. The lens quality is so good it can pass for something way higher, like a 10mp or 12mp. I am very happy with my purchase. Also, it arrived quickly and was safely packaged.

I searched long and hard before deciding on this camera and found it is the ideal camera in the price range for the majority of users. For those that like advanced features you will be happy to see that you can manually adjust aperture and shutter speed. For those that like ease of use you will be happy to see that it can be completely automatic, and even have automatic settings for portraits, landscape, etc. Macro zoom is amazing on this camera. Most shops try to sell you on high megapixel cameras, but the truth is you really don't need it. Your printer can't print that high of resolution. Most printers won't print above 8.5x11, and 3.2 MP prints beautifully at that size. I have framed prints in my living room from this camera and people have thought they were commercially purchased prints. A lot of cameras will fit these praises. However, the two things that sold me on THIS camera over others are: #1 = speed!!! Go to a camera store and take a photo with this, then take one with a comparable camera. This one is MUCH faster both grabbing the photo and processing it. You will only find a faster camera if you spend 2x as much on a digital SLR. This is the one reason I avoided going digital for so long. It took way too long to capture a photo. With candid photos (kids, etc) the moment is usually gone before the camera will take the photo. Not so with this camera! #2 = Video. The video resolution is 2x that of most digital cameras (640x480), it is only limited by the size of your SD card, and has sound. I have played video caps on my big screen TV and they look as good as my camcorder videos. This camera absolutely has top rating in my book for the price range! 3 people have bought this same camera after using mine. That's the best form of advertising.Read full review
My husband bought me this camera new in 2003 and paid over $450... a lot to spend on a camera at that time. Love the clarity of the pictures and always got a lot of compliments on the photos I took. Love the flip up flash. Love that you can look at the screen or look through the view finder when taking pictures. We were sold rechargeable AA batteries with it, and it was a very wise investment! We were impressed that the camera could go days, taking hundreds of pictures on one set of batteries before needing another set. A lot easier and cheaper than dealing with specialty camera batteries. This was one of the first cameras to offer recording of small video clips, onto the SD card and although the videos I shot had a tendency to be grainy depending on the environment, it was still a nice feature to have. This camera went everywhere with me and it took A LOT OF ABUSE over the years and kept on going like a champ. When I finally did it in I was so sad. My husband bought me one of these new little supposedly fabulous cameras and I HATE IT! Since they don't make or service these cameras anymore I was very happy to find it on ebay. I'm in love with it again! Although, because of its age, it doesn't support the new optimal HDSD cards the blue SD ones work just fine. It is great used as just a point and shoot camera, but also has a lot of features, so if you have the time to learn how to use this camera it would be even better.Read full review
Most excellent camera for the price. This is my 9th (NINTH) one. I keep knocking them off the workbench or a table. They always land on either the Battery Door or the Lens, The Battery door CAN be taped up, but jamming up the Lens Gears, totals them.
