About this product

Product Information

Based on the Akira Kurosawa classic SEVEN SAMURAI, this anime series updates the action of the film to a bleak future overrun by bandits. These men are former samurais who have abandoned their code of honor and adapted technology to their bodies until they no longer resemble humans. When a small village can no longer stand against the marauders, they call on the skills of a group of samurais to save them. This release includes every episode of SAMURAI 7.

I've always loved this story, long before they animated it. But I don't think I remembered how engaging this was.

  • Samurai 7, yet another astounding anime.

This anime based off of the legendary film maker Akira Kurosawa's Seven Samurai is a legend itself. The anime re-tells the classic film in its own way. Samurai 7 is full of action. The story of a poor village of farmers who go through hell having their crops stolen by the bandits after every harvest. They soon send three of their villagers to gather samurai and end up getting seven of the most heroic and comedic group of samurai. The final battle is full of non-stop action as the farmers gain courage and hope and fight for justice. I highly recommend this anime and if you plan on getting samurai 7 you NEED to watch the original 1954 film "Seven Samurai". Samurai 7 is among my top 5 favorite anime's of all time and I hope whoever reads this will end up buying the series and enjoy it as much ...

  • An Excellent Retelling of a Classic

Samurai 7 is an excellent anime based on the 1954 Akira Kurosawa film, Seven Samurai. When a small rice farming village tires of being robbed by giant mechanical bandits, their Water Priestess sets out on a quest to find samurai to protect them. After a group of seven samurai is formed, they set out to protect the village from the bandits, as well as overthrow the corrupt government. A must see for any fans of Seven Samurai or any samurai anime fan, Samurai 7 combines action, adventure, drama and comedy to make a very exciting and well rounded series.

  • Great Anime, great animation and great plot.

I love Samurai 7 it is a well written anime produced by Akira Kurosawa. Funamtion then retouches it to make it even better. I own it in both blu ray and regular form. Blu ray is a ton better as far as color but it is still amazing as far as the regular copy. I decided to buy it becuase i loved Akira Kurosawa's original movie The Seven Samurai. Anyone who passes on this movie and claims to be an anime fan is a total fake.

  • Underrated anime series

Samurai 7 is an underrated gem of an anime series. It's an interesting futuristic take on the classic Seven Samurai story, and it's one of the few series I've seen with an ending that doesn't make you say, "@%!#$# - I can't believe I just watched 10 discs and it was all leading up to THAT!" Some of my other favorites include the original Saiyuki, Last Exile and Samurai Champloo, so if you like any of those, you might want to give Samurai 7 a try.
