    Sanyo LA1245 replaced in a vintage radio, Kenwood KR-V106R

    LA1245 is a Sanyo AM receiver integrated circuit chip that is used on a Kenwood KR-V106R receiver. After 30 years of playing the radio 24/7, the LA1245 failed. Yes, the Kenwood KR-V106R has been power for over 30 years. A very nice stereo radio. The Sanyo LA1245 was bought to replace the chip inside the radio. The required skill level to perform this operation is high. The onboard chip has to be removed by removing the solder without damaging the printed circuit board. After the bad chip is removed, the new LA1245 is installed and soldered. The solder provides the electrical connection to the chip. The pics illustrate the location of IC3, LA1245 on the receiver board. After installing the LA1245, the radio is now working fine.
