This thing worked just fine with my Mid 2011 Macbook Air running OS X 10.11.6..... I had purchased a generic adapter and I could not get it to work (even after installing two different drivers but .... no luck.....) anyhow..... do yourself a favor and get and Apple adapter... (they kinda strong arm you into using "genuine" adapters these days)

The English product details on the reverse side of the packaging is so full of typos and misspellings with missing words and spaces that a grade schooler could tell it's a bootleg product. Connection speed tested at barely 25 Mb/s using cat5 and Cat6 cables over local network. If faced with getting a slow network connection or none at all, this provides one but it's junk compared to a genuine Apple product.

It's only Fast Ethernet (10/100), but it works well. Combined with the Lightning to USB 3 adapter and a USB power adapter, it allows you to connect iOS devices to the network. Great if you're in a place with bad cell phone reception AND bad wifi. Even phone calls and SMS will work. (If your carrier supports wifi calling)

This product was NOT plug n play with the Macbook Air I attached it to. The configuration was not difficult (open the network settings in system preferences, and detail your network addressing) however if you don't normally configure your peripheral devices on your Mac this could be frustrating to deal with.
