You can get lots of low-priceCanon cameras, some of them at not much more than $100 brand new. But if you want one that is competent at taking low-light pictures, has 10x optical zoom, great image stabilization, and 1080p video, the choices get very small. The Canon 330HS has an f3.0 lens, somewhat unusual in a pocket camera, and it uses their proprietary DIGIC 5 processor, which can extract a good image from a photo taken even up to ISO 1600 or 3200. Even my $600 Panasonic FZ200 isn't as good as the 330HS at that job. Unfortunately Canon stopped making the 330HS. If you want one you may be able to find a new one on eBay, though usually at a pretty stiff price, or you can try for a refurbished one that generally goes for $120 or so. I've had good luck with the refurbs.

The Power Shot is simple and easy to use, I even get great shots with it. Just read and follow the directions and you will be taking great shots right off the bat. Control buttons are small so if you have big fingers it may be a little hard to use. Other than that it is a great camera in a compact size. I have not used the movie feature as yet.

I really enjoy using this camera. It is very easy to carry in either a shirt or jacket pocket, and without doubt in a purse. It renders color quite true to what is photographed and the pictures are quite sharp. That being said I normally only print in 4"x6" size. The one downside might be for folks with large hands as the camera is very small as are the controls. If a person with large hands were considering purchasing this camera I would highly suggest physically handling one before buying to see if this would be an issue. The learning curve for this camera is quite short. I normally shoot with it in P mode with ISO set at 200 and use EV mode to set the exposure. It does quite well in auto mode but then all control over ISO is lost.
Compact with just the right amount of features. Some cameras have so many modes you cannot find what you want. This has the right set. We were at Colorado Springs in the mountains 2 weeks ago and evening was setting in. But there was a nice mode for twilight shots so we could shoot pictures for an extra hour. Our battery life has been good as well. We got ours for $95 which I think was a steal!
