Be careful: this is the 78mm version of the tensioner. If your chain is already loose - and it probably is assuming you've already noticed that you need a new tensioner - this will not work for you. BMW release a revision of the tensioner that is 82mm long that fixed the issues of the original. Unless you have a new timing chain installed, you need to buy the 82mm tensioner. Even in that scenario I would recommend buying the new one as it'll last longer. Nonetheless this one is high quality

    No Good For 2008 R56

    Don’t recommend this tensioner. I would only use it in an emergency. It isn’t heavy duty or long enough for a worn chain. Had to put my old tensioner back on (after sanding ridges off the plunger) to quiet the chain down.
