Ebay part number lookup tool caution
This review is actually about the part number lookup. The part itself is fine, but it was not the part I needed. In this case the 1980s ford f series alternators came with an external regulator so the lookup assumes that's what you need. It was not uncommon to replace the alternator with one that had a built in regulator and a wiring harness for the truck to get more power. I also worked on a 1990 f series that had an alternator with a built in regulator from the factory. Using the lookup proved challenging as many of the part numbers turned out to be for the external regulator models. So, bottom line, look for sellers that make good pictures so you can tell what type of alternator they are offering.
