Strange occurrences have been taking place in the mountains on the outskirts of Racoon City. Strange witness accounts caught the attention of the elite Bravo Team unit, and an enquiry into the matters soon proceeded. Stumbling across information they shouldn't have, the team sends a distress call from the site.<br><br>The S.T.A.R.S unit proceeds with the distress call, but upon arriving they found out that even they are in serious trouble. Managing to escape from the danger in fewer numbers, the team rushes into a bare-looking mansion with intentions to find help. Yet it seems now that the true goal is to find the surviving Bravomembers and get the hell out of there.<br><br>Resident Evil will be remembered as one of the most popular games to ever to grace the PlayStation, but after almost two years Capcoms decision to port this once console-only title over to Microsoft's Windows 95 OS is a surprise, if not a little late. As mentioned earlier, players direct a member of the S.T.A.R.S support team. Seeking help they comb the mansion for life, but soon they find out that the only surviving life forms are those undead. What unfolds will shock you, but remember, it's all about survival.<br><br>The gameplay mixes shooting action with primitive elements of adventure and puzzle gaming. Usually the puzzles require items to be found and then executed, but the odd more complicated and traditional puzzle exists requiring gamers to align statues or solve a code. The action sequences require players to unleash barrel loads of bullets (of which revolvers, shotguns, rocket launchers and magnums should make easy work of) into their undead enemies most notably zombies, spiders, anacondas, plants, dogs, bugs and other hell-spawned monstrosities. Through a simple draw gun, pivot and fire system, the action elements blend seemlessly and quickly into the action.<br><br>Weapons and other items can also be picked up, but characters are limited in the amount that they can hold. For example if you choose to play through Chris Redfields scenario (your selection of which character to play influences the paths and storyline of your adventure) you can hold only six items at one time, while if you choose Jill Valentine you may carry eight. The system is supported by items boxes that are placed around the mansion -- in these boxes players can place or take items when they need them.<br><br>Visually the game requires a 3D-supported card and runs in a 640x480 high-resolution mode.
