END OF THE GAME: PETER BEARD'S ALL TIME MASTERPIECE
The End of the Game by Peter Hill Beard was first published in 1965 by Doubleday in New York and Viking in London, England. The book deals with the big game animals of East Africa and their ruthless slaughtering by poachers and hunters. During the early trips and safaris to Kenya and Tanzania, Beard was able to meet and discuss the dynamics of big game hunting with some of the legendary hunters like Philip Percival, Pop Binks, J.A. Hunter, Bill Woodley and Doug Collins. The book is lavishly illustrated with Beard's own photographs as well as hundreds of vintage photographs. In the later editions, the text has been revised and added more photographs including J.H. Patterson's Tsavo diary. The book deals with the gradual disappearance of once abundant East Africa's Big-5 (Elephant, ...
