Beautiful game that I finally returned to my collection, after a 15 year absence, and it plays as good today as it did in '98. Einhander is difficult, loud, gorgeous, insane and epitomizes the sexiness of the late 90's. Every bit a masterpiece, it's so much more than just that rare Square shooter from back in the day. Twenty years ago, I was enthralled with it, as I am now, and it immediately takes you back to those hazy, lazy late 90's summer evenings, hanging out with friends at Denny's, looking at girls and talking industrial music and PS1. The music, the sounds, it's all an explosive time machine; if you had it then, you loved it. If you balk at the price now, forget it. It's still worth it, and you only live once. A Great PS Shooter
EInhander is one of the best shooters on any platform. Although Einhander is basically a standard side-scrolling shooter, it has many features that make it above average. Upon starting the game you have the option of choosing one of three ships to pilot. The only difference between the ships is the amount of weapons they may carry. One ship can only carry two auxiliary weapons, but it has a weak normal shot; another ship can carry only one auxiliary weapon but its normal shot is twice as powerful; the third ship can carry up to three auxiliary weapons. You obtain auxiliary weapons by “stealing” them from enemy ships; this is done by simply shooting them down. The weapons include: machine guns, cannons, spreaders, beam swords, homing missiles, and some other ones. The weapons are all very ... EInhander is one of the best shooters on any platform. The weapons are all very nice and add a lot of variety to the gameplay because you can switch weapons at any time. The auxiliary weapons are what really makes Einhander stand out from other shooters. You can also change the speed of your ship at any time. Another great feature is the multiplier. Whenever you shoot down an enemy, your multiplier increases, however, it also decreases every second. This means that if you want to rack up huge points, you have to shoot down a lot of enemies in rapid succession. At some points, this can be very entertaining: using your machine gun to pick off weaker enemies while your cannon takes out the heavily armored ships (at the same time) is a lot of fun. Einhander also features some great music (as should be expected from a Squaresoft game), and excellent graphics. The levels are well designed and the bosses are huge and challenging. Einhander is a must have game for Playstation owners and hardcore shooter fans. Pros: - Great 2D shooter gameplay in 3D - Nice graphics - Different weapons and ships Cons: - Can be difficult at times

Maybe the best scroll shooter at this point.
First, this is a sideway scroll shooter... either you hate it or love it. It also kinda reflect your age but I will not get to that =) The visual factor - This little gem is 8 years old (2006) yet still deliever. The graphic is dated at this point, but when it came out in 98, it was one of the best looking scroll shooter ever in terms of graphics; Clean and sharp. Gameplay - Gameplay is rather realistic. 1. You can "fly" your fighter - speed can be control and had full screen control - you could even perform a physical attack on your targets without damage you fighter. 2. your fighter had limited armour - the one hit you are dead rule still apply to the game, but you can block the incoming shots with your robot arm or one of your gun pods. 3. about weapon pods.. there are over 12 of ... These ammo using weapons pod is added on top of your 12.7 mm machine guns that never runs out of ammo. 4. Your targets is NOT push over. Like all Square games, The AI in this game isn't dumb even at the easiest level; However, this game make sure every shot that hits is a hit.. no bs shots; you know you get hit. These factors make the game replay value quiet high. 5. There are large numbers of hidden items in the game - again, find them and they also add to the replay value. 6. The game had a performace chart that you can see how you did - again, add to the replay value as well some players' ego. The conclusion - You can buy this game for play value... or you can buy this game for collector value (One of those game that still runs about $50 - $100 range.. depending on the quality.) Either way, you won.

A Classic
I first got this game almost 10 years ago, when no one knew what it was and I wouldn't say it was at the time a best seller. However, my brother and I loved this game when we came across it and I continue to play this game this very day. The replay value is great. It never gets old. And then once you beat it, so many more options open up for you, and it's almost like a new game once you unlock the new vehicles and weapons. Now more about the actual game. It's a side scrolling shooter with lots of action and what was at the time amusing graphics, background and music. I love the use of the German language during the boss levels. My friends and I would laugh our arses off mimicking the language and making up our own words to be what we *thought* we were hearing. I'd give an example but I ... Rare Squaresoft shooter, lots of fun!
Einhander is a classic 3D, side-scrolling shooter game for the PS1. The story is interesting. It involves a futuristic, mech anime-esque war in the future between Earth's empire and a lunar nation colonized on the Moon. It was developed by the former Squaresoft (now Square-Enix) famous for the revered Final Fantasy series. Not that easy to find at a decent price, I highly recommend picking this up. If you want a VERY challenging, unique action game with great graphics for its time, get this. It's also worth quite a bit in my opinion. The music is upbeat, throbbing electronica that goes well with the battles, reminiscent of Parasite Eve, also by the same company. HUGE boss battles. If you can make it to the end of the game, you'll be surprised at the turn of events. (I won't spoil it.) Seriously, just go out there and bid on it! :) -John
