    An excellent refurbished console.

I was a bit skeptical as to how good the wireless controller would be, and aside from having to figure out how to wake the controller from sleep mode (hit START, took a while before I accidentally did that) I have been impressed with just how well it works. The refurbished console itself works just as well as my original PS2 did all those years ago. It has been wonderful to have a means of playing the handful of games that my backwards compatible PS3 doesn't like, and before you recommend emulators most of them are on the list that you have to use special compatibility features or PCSX2 has problems with (and even with using those settings they still have some definite problems), emulators aren't always the answer, especially if you can get a good refurbished console instead like this ...

    Be careful!

60 bucks for a fat ps2 is amazing. However I was having issues with the system reading discs. Any time I out a game in, the ps2 would go to the boot menu. Then, after 1 or 2 minutes the game would finally play. The only game that would load instantly was guitar hero 1. Really weird. Any ways I took it apon myself to open the system up and carefully clean the laser eye. Welp, now the darn thing won't power on, no stand by light, nothing. I must have blown a fuse in it, but I would have no idea how that could have happened. Very aggravating. Just be careful with the fat ps2's, there not exactly tanks..... There rather fragile.

  • Lots of fun for the money spent.

Thought my slim PS2 went belly up, and didn't want to spent $$$ on current game consoles. I got this Fat Console earlier than expected and set it up, popped in a disc, memory card, and played for a couple hours. No problems encountered, and here and there still enjoying the Fat PS2 console. Worth every cent spent if you enjoy PS2 games without the need of present day's graphics.

  • Excellent product, but the DVD-ROM drive dies suddenly.

I owned two PS2 units, one of them 1st gen, the other 2nd gen... and both of them performed really nice... until the day in which the DVD-ROM simply stops recognizing the game disk. In the case with my first PS1, the drive just died, period (no disk was playable whatsoever). The second one, the drive was able to play certain disks, but suddenly it would lose grip of the disk, and the disk would start making weird noises while spinning + the game would freeze in the middle of a scene. Very annoying, as it does not let you save before it does that... What is remarkable in the case with the dying drive is the actual timing. The drives died on me after exactly 1 year and 2 months of use. Meaning, exactly when the warranty was up! Repairing the console would cost you almost as much as buying ...

  • Good buy

The system and wireless controller worked, but the 2 wired controllers were busted. I had extra controllers already do not a huge issue. The system itself works, as do the other accessories included (dvd remote, extra memory card)
