Capcom's first original Street Fighter game since 1991, Street Fighter Alpha distinguishes itself with an anime-influenced visual style and younger versions of Street Fighter II's cast. Known as Street Fighter Zero in Japan, Alpha serves as a prequel to 1991's game and introduces three new playable characters: U.S.A.F. lieutenant Charlie, Italian fortune-teller Rose, and Hong Kong martial artist Dan Ribicki. The remainder of the cast includes a mix of characters featured in previous Capcom games, such as Guy from 1989's Final Fight and Birdie from 1987's Street Fighter.<br><br>The Saturn version of the arcade game offers three play modes: "Arcade," "Versus," and "Training." Arcade involves selecting one of ten initially available characters and battling a series of seven opponents until an eventual showdown with M. Bison or another boss. Versus lets you challenge a friend to a one-on-one fight, while Training involves practicing each character's varied moves. Street Fighter Alpha's gameplay once again relies on mastering character-specific combos. Characters can also perform multiple levels of "super" moves by maxing out a meter, block in the air, initiate counter attacks, taunt, and more.

Street Fighter Alpha for Sega Saturn
The first game in a series launched by Capcom to bridge the gap of the events between Street Fighter and Street Fighter II. Sega Saturn version is arcade perfect, every other console version may be decent but many hardcores who want their port to be mirrored from the arcade this is your game. Alpha expanded on the super move system introduced in Super Street Fighter II Turbo and introduced the Air Guard and Alpha Counter. Classic favorites Ryu, Ken, Sagat and Chun Li return along with Street Fighter one enemies Adon and Birdie, as well as Final Fight's Guy and Sodom are making their SF playable character debuts. Two new characters to the game are Charlie (Guile's friend mentioned in his SFII ending) and Rose as well as three unlockables Akuma, M. Bison and Dan. Dan was ... Dan was strictly created by Capcom as a jab at SNK's Art of Fighting series as he dresses and fights like main character Ryo Sakazaki and looks like other main character Robert Garcis, but his moves are very weak and is basically a joke. However it is fun to use him and beat people as a means of bragging. The gameplay is very fun but a bit of an adjustment to people either new to Street Fighter completely or haven't played any other SF titles since II and its spinoffs. In this game you only have to win 8 fights to beat the game rather than the 12 you had to in the 4 previous games. Each character has their own story line and different "rival" or "boss" fights as their eighth fight. The only thing I disliked was the unlockables. I stumbled upon two of them without having to go through the challenge of getting them through playing the game, so the only thing I can think of is the unlock codes for those who want them without playing were too easy because I wasn't even attempting any codes. To sum things up the Saturn port of Street Fighter Alpha is a must have for Hardcore Street Fighter (or fighting games in general) fans. If you're not a collector or just a passive fighting game fan, this game may not be a necessity, but could still provide a lot of fun should you come across it.

Street Fighter on Saturn
Both Steet Fighter Alpha and Street Fighter the Movie are great games. Alpha is arcade perfect and just a stellar game in all categories. The Movie is just a fun ride thrown atop great bit of nostalgia. It's just Street Fighter 2, but fun non the less.

So before I got my Sega Saturn I was thinking of buying Capcom & Marvel fighting games for PS1 & PS2 but I noticed that the VS games are not exactly like the arcade games because you cant switch fighters during the match. So I got a Sega Saturn & Sega Dreamcast to get the full arcade fighting Experience. Plus I have an Arcade stick that works on both Sega Systems.
