We are technician which are dealing and testing constantly with 4 brand motherboards. ASUS,GIGABYTE, MSI and ASROCK. For gamers which will use win10 operating system this motherboard is absolute winner. Newest bios F20 will allow you to do only 2 choices for internal storage 1.) Intel rapid storage technology and AHCI. ( old IDE is not possible ) Newest bios will support all Kaby lake and all Skylake CPU. Raid options is also possible on this MB. Win 10 support all new M.2 fast memory stick so install is easy for M.2 and I repeat only for win 10. For older Win7 is salso possible but this is only good for advanced builders because it is very tricky to load manually drivers for M.2 into Win 7. Many gamers will use dual M.2 on this board - 1 for OS and second for preloaded games or another SATA large storage drive. This board has maximum for gamers - Dual gigabit LAN, Dual M.2 ports, GReat sound blaster audio + headphones amp, and absolutely owesome gigabyte overclocking capability on Z170 chipset. ( GA has directly in bios CPU upgrade for "K" ending processors which works great without any increase voltage to CPU or memory. i5 7600K Kaby lake works absolutely owesome on 4.4Ghz on cheap Hyper T4 fan without any voltage increase and on CPU-Z test will show 2211 single threat which beats i7 6700K and multithreat test amazing 8398 ! WHich almost beats i7 6700k skylake ( 9124) just example. This is just short story ,there are many other boards on market , many MSI boards have issues with M.2 ports compability and was fixed in newest bioses. There are some good ASUS boards on market but many we do not recommend. Asrock has very good advanced bioses in more expensive Z170 boards but this Gigabyte Z170X- Gaming 7 is most reliable and stable MB and our favorite board. Best for multi graphics 2way SLI and 3 way crossfire. Great board for graphics users - Sony vegas studio , Photoshop users, and GAMERS !!! Cheep version is GAMING 3 without display port , dual Lan and audio ALC1150 Mid version is Gaming 5 version with audio ALC1150 chipset but nearly as good as gaming 7. Read full review

Works with Linux Mint 20, may need to add audio DSP firmware file manually. Other than that, it's working fine. I used an i7-6700K @ 4G and 32G of DDR4-2133 RAM, running on a 650W power supply. Plenty of board mounted and rear panel USB, both 2 and 3. Supports two monitors one on the DP and one on the HDMI. I had no trouble installing the processor and a tower cooler. Holes lined up perfectly with my case, all case & fan connections clearly marked. For a hundred and fifty dollars, this was a great deal.

Board look's new. Set everything up and the board starts right up. Brought this board even thought it has 2 bent pins. So far the board is working great. Good deal for a hundred bucks 5 stars.

Built this into a gaming PC using an M2 drive and 3200 speed DDR4 Ram. Thing just screams. Very good MB and Chip and this one won the chip lottery as it easily holds a 4.6 GHz overclock.
