Great sound, pretty loud as well. Bought brand new, no scuffs or anything. Overbearing bass at times that kills certain music but it's nice. Heavier and bigger than expected but it's okay. A little bit more expensive then I would like for a speaker. Signs of a faulty battery though, not sure if it's just the LEDs or not. I guess I'll find out in a few months.

I love JBL speakers, especially Bluetooth speakers. I've purchased many as gifts, as well as one great Soundbar SB450 for my own use. This JBL Extreme Bluetooth speaker is absolutely a great product when used in standalone mode. Unfortunately, it was not at all suitable for my only use: "to be linked with my JBL Soundbar SB450" so I can listen to what was playing at a lower floor. The issue was the sound level of JBL Extreme was "extremely soft / low" once the link was established. Both SB450 and Extreme speakers volume level are linked so if I crank up the JBL Extreme to proper level, the JBL SB450 will be extremely LOUD / distorted (may be even potentially damage the SB450.) I worked with JBL TechSup who was incredibly helpful and technical and especially thorough to go through several configurations. In the end, the TS concluded that the issue can't be resolved. I had high expectation of the "linked" feature hence I was disappointed, and I had to returned the JBL Extreme :-(Read full review

I've had my speaker for just under a month, so I can't comment on how well it ages or how long it lasts. Pros: * Output. The amount of volume this thing can play at is more than sufficient for the beach or pool. * Battery Life. I've used this speaker on multiple putting and have yet to recharge. Cons: (please note the update below) *No Bass Adjustment. While it plays perfectly in large rooms or outside, in a small room (e.g. bathroom) the bass is horribly overpowering. I use an EQing app that allows me to cut a ton of bass out when I'm playing in our bathroom / vanity **UPDATE 02/23/2018** Another user saw my review and sent the following method of reducing the bass. When the speaker powers on it's default is for the sub-woofer(s) to be on. They can be turned off (or heavily attenuated) by holding down the Bluetooth button and the Negative button (volume down) for 10 to 15 seconds. I do wish it was a bit easier to toggle between the two, with a toggle switch or momentary switch and indicator light, but I am ecstatic that I can now listen to the speaker while in the shower! Things Of Note: *Weight and Size. This thing is big and has a good amount of heft to it. There is a large shoulder strap which helps. With a sturdy shell to house a large battery and amp, I guess the weight shouldn't have been that big of a surprise. Read full review

I got from eBay seller brand new at a good price, but after listening to it for a few days, I really became less satisfied with the sound, at low to mid volume it sounds ok, the bass is more boomy (75hz) and it carries farther outside, but it's boosted too much and almost fake for me, I had a fugoo xl and the bass was more accurate, but it didn't have the kick and loudness of the extreme, but at higher volumes the bass gets compressed and the treble becomes a almost loud irritating shrillness and did not like it.. If the speaker was $150 I might have kept it, but I sent it back, the battery is huge inside of it though. (10amps!) so for me it's only a charging station, I will try a marshal kiilborn at $300.. I purchased this in the attempt of trying it out in my Can Am Commander. I did try to look for reviews on how good it would be and found nothing. So I took the leap and gave it a whirl, it worked!! Can Am Commanders are a bit on the louder side. So with that being said, the only issue is at higher speeds the sound of the Commander muffles out the music but lower speeds it works great. So if your one who likes to sit back and just cruise then this maybe a great alternative for you also. I will be adding a JBL flip or a charge to the mix, just to see if that will help sound at higher speeds. So if your on a budget and looking for a bluetooth speaker for your Side x side...give this a try. Best part is, it runs off its own battery, you can remove it, and it is splash proof. So a bit of mud and such won't damage it. As of right now this works great and I can't wait to hit some trails. Read full review
