15-bar pump espresso machine works well, has 42mm portafilter, not sure if it's standard size or not. Baskets are 2-layer, with one tiny hole in the lower layer to increase the pressure and provide a good crema every time, it's very forgiving. Heats quickly and the frother works well, maybe a little too well. I take the frothing attachment off, which exposes a rubberized nozzle, which hopefully will not wear out too soon. A beat-up box allowed me to get this for nearly 50% off list.

The biggest problem with this machine is the steamer. I've watched countless hours of videos and gone through half a gallon of milk, but I cannot froth milk for a proper latte. Perhaps it is just a matter of more practice; I'm not sure. It does make a perfect cappuccino quite easily though. I've used pre-ground coffe from the store and ground my own beans, but the espresso that comes out is horrifically bitter. Fortunately for me I like a mocha latte, so it's not that big of a deal. After brewing, the grounds come out of the portafilter in a solid puck, which is supposed to be a sign of a good process. So that's something. However, when installing the portafilter, it is very difficult because it fits so tightly. There are no specific instructions, but the natural assumption is to rotate the portafilter until the handle is perpendicular to the machine, but the last few degrees of rotation are nearly impossible. Very strange. I bought this machine to save me money. Buying $5 dollar lattes everyday was adding up. I can't yet say if the $120 investment was or was not worth it as I still have some more practice to do. The machine is easy to use, although a bit noisy when it brews. I had to put a piece of foam under it to dampen the sound/vibration on the counter top. Read full review

Fast, easy to use,but I have to use the two cup filter to brew one 11/2 to 2 ounce cup of espresso to acceptable strength.

This is a really nice unit, matches our black/stainless kitchen and is easy to use and keep clean. I like the idea of it having a stainless steel water heating chamber (not aluminum like some others). It is also much quieter than other brands as well being well designed and sturdy.

We've been using it about 2 weeks now. Other than my wife's caffeine induced mood swings, we love it. We really didn't know much about the different types of coffee. This comes with a brochure with pics and recipes.
