'Elf' starring Will Ferrell. Will was an orphan child who stowed away on Santa's sleigh as a child and was adopted by one of Santa's elves. After years of not fitting in with the other elfs, Papa Elf (Bob Newhart) tells Will the truth: he's not an elf but a human. Will sets out on a journey to New York City to find his father, who is a grumpy executive at a publishing company (James Caan). Will Ferrell is terrific as the silly elf, and this movie is chock full of big laughs And the humor isn't foul like that found in something like "Scary Movie III", this is more like "School of Rock". 'Elf' is a great movie for the whole family, yet not aimed directly at children. For the last 15 minutes of the film, the laughs abruptly disappear and are replaced by a strangely moving dose of Christmas spirit. The ending feels like an entirely different movie. But no matter, for good comedies that don't rely on potty humor are few and far between these days. Will Ferrell has succeeded in his first major starring role, and I hope that there are more good projects for him in the future. A great time. Don't hesitate to see this terrific film.Read full review
A great movie it has become sort of a modern classic. In my opinion it is one of Will Ferrell's only good movie. It is very entertaining, well acted and heartfelt. I would definitely recommend to anyone.

Our holiday tradition is to find and watch as many Christmas specials and movies as possible. I really liked this movie and was happy to find this movie to add to my collection. Guess that a lot of others love the movie and the adventures that Buddy went on after finding out that he was adopted and leaves the North Pole and try to find out who his family is and what life outside Santa's workshop is really like. It's funny and entertaining for youngsters and adults too

For a lot of fans of Will Ferrell, this movie may be a little too childish or cheesy for them to watch. However, this movie really is hilarious because of how stupid it can be. Adults and children alike will enjoy the antics in this holiday film. It's not an adult oriented film, by any means. In fact, this movie is perfect for children...especially children who still believe in Santa Claus. This movie is able to make a comedy around a human who was raised by Santa's elves in the North Pole and then returns to society to find his real father. What ensues is nothing but gags centered around the human-elf trying to adapt to the real world and make his father accept him. The story is actual quite clever, the humor is clean, stupid and still a riot. Also, as I said, the way this movie plays out, it really is fun for children who still believe in Santa because it comes with the approach that Santa is real and it has little quips that answer some of children's questions. For example, the workshop shows the elves making modern toys...children always ask how Santa gets his hands on those modern toys. All in all this is a cute little movie that some Will Ferrell fans might dislike, but it's still hilarious and a great film to have around the holidays. I highly recommend this to Will Ferrell fans, people who love clean humored comedies and for this people with children.Read full review
