I am very happy with this book. Since I am a collector of antique clothing, I purchased this book in order to become more knowledgeable about the elements of Victorian and Edwardian clothing. I like that it is detailed and includes the information I was looking for. I do not like that the author, at times, does not include the definition for some fashion terms (i.e. engageante = an undersleeve). Overall, for the price I paid, I am happy with the book. I have learned a great deal, which is exactly why I purchased it. If you are looking for a detailed book on Victorian and Edwardian fashion, this is a great find. However if you are looking for more of a general overview, this might not be the best choice. Photos supplement information in the chapter.

This book contains wonderful pictures of real people from this beautiful era. It also contains factual information. I have not studied the facts of this era and could not verify how accurate the information in this book is. I do recommend the book to anyone studying the costuming, hairstyles, & photogenic dispositions of the people of this era.
This book is wonderful for re-enactors who are trying to recreate costumes from the Victorian Era. Pictures say a 1000 words. If you are just interested in "what people" looked like/dressed like - this is it also. I myself love this book as a reference to my sewing.
