There are many cookbooks in todays market that claim to be the "best of the best", and yet so many of them fall short. I was pleasantly surprised when I picked up this cookbook, because the recipes are truly unique, and are very, very good! First, the photography is fabulous. Second, there are notes from the two chefs along side the dishes they prepared. There are also suggestions how how to prepare variations of the same dish, cooking techniques, ingredients and the type of equipment best used for each recipe. Ms. McCullough and Ms. Stevens leave you with a feeling that they really care about these dishes, how they turn out for you and most of all that they are the best. This is the last book in the series but they are going out with a BANG! Thumbs up!
Great cookbook. The recipes are mostly easy and there are some very good cooking tips throughout the book. Our favorites so far: Sweet Potatoes with Ginger & Apple Cider, Stir-Fried Chicken with Lime & Coconut, Garlicky Baked Chicken, Sear-roasted Salmon Fillets (we used lemon butter without the ginger), Monte's Ham, Peanut Butter Cookies, Butterscotch Custard, & Cherry Almond Twist Pastry.
I have the first few books of the series and this book is a wonderful collection of all of them! I love that this one has photographs to see the recipes. The recipes all turn out wonderful, one of my favorite is the heavenly cinnamon buns! The book is thought out well and they explain how they made the recipes themselves, which is nice. I have given this as gifts and people love it! I highly recommend it!
I have made a few recipes and have been very happy, I am going to get this recipe book for a friend also for Christmas. Italian shortbread recipe is yummy and iI have made it 4 times in 2 weeks. Can not comment on all but the ones I have tried have been good.
I was disappointed that the book is full of recipies taht are anything but American food. The title is misleading.
