I never rate anything five stars, unless it is so good it can't be made better. while that idea may be a stretch, I have idolized DUKE for all my life and I'm no spring chicken anymore. in thumbing through the cookbook I discovered that John and I shared a love for many food related items, which is to be expected since the cookbook is stuffed with man food. My only complaint is that, with so many options, it is very hard to decide which recipe to try first so I just closed my eyes and pointed, with this cookbook, you cannot make a mistake. These recipes are easier to prepare, and the ingredients are less expensive. An ordinary cook would have many ingredients in their cupboards. The directions include what size cast iron pan to use. These recipes remind me of 1970s cookbooks. These recipes are not from John Wayne. The family gathered them, if that makes a difference. They did a good job. If you want to give a 1970s style cook a gift, this cookbook would work.

This skillet has ALL the markings of a great bargain!! It not only is a great tool in the kitchen, but carries with it a "touch" of a once great icon in this country!! It is made very well and is a great size to use (not to big, not to small)! A steal for the price and is a great conversation piece hanging with the rest of my cast iron skillets!!
