Love this pedal! Though it doesn't have as much gain as some other drives I've had, it absolutely nails the early Van Halen tone! All you have to add is talent! It does a great job of covering a multitude of classic rock tones.

I tried various plexi-style pedals and I didn't like them, it was a waste of money for me. It doesn't sound bothersome... it's warm (the way I use it) it's perfect as a distortion. I don't like the traditional distortion but this pedal is a necessary sound for my ears. It would have been good if the frequencies were separated (Low, Mid, High) but the tone does not do a bad job, because of the sound that it is, the separation of frequencies is not necessary, although it would have been optional.

I have many Marshall style pedals.I would call this one a take on a Marshall JTM45 ...also called the Bluesbreaker. With the gain switched to normal you get a very good JTM45 sound. Switched into high gain it becomes a rather bland ordinary dirt pedal. All the rich tone gets oversaturated and smeared. Keep in mind a JTM45 was based off of a Fender Bassman. It is not a classic Plexi with very heavy fat low mids. Both are good. BUT I feel most buyers may have an image of a 100 watt Marshall stack. It is NOT that kind of sound or that kind of pedal.
