MicPortPro - recording 10 minutes out of the box!
I purchased this used, to try one out. My goal is to have a setup that will allow me to still record voice overs when on business trips for my "real" job. I took this device out of the box mated it to my Rode NT1-A microphone, plugged into my Windows10 laptop. Within 10 minutes the drivers had automatically loaded, I opened my copy of Sound Forge and recorded a couple of tracks. It sounded good. On my mic the lighted collar did not contact at all and caused no problems. The only con was that controls and markings are small and I used a magnifier to be sure what I was doing. (I'm old) Now I know where they are. I see this keeping me working when I am away from my home studio.I purchased this used, to try one out. Clear collar prevents XLR from seating properly
This product does what it's supposed to do, and that's simply being a Blue Icicle but with a durable body. However, the clip on the XLR adapter is blocked by a clear collar which the power light shines through. This is... totally asinine. If I didn't have a machine shop in my garage I would have been screwed, because I had to modify the crap out of the collar for XLR female plugs to actually clip on. I got mine for a deal and I much prefer having something so small than having an interface, but come on, that's a heinous design oversight that shouldn't have even been a problem.This product does what it's supposed to do, and that's simply being a Blue Icicle but with a durable body.
