    Honeytone 10 watt amp

I was looking for an inexpensive small amp to use with a CBG, battery powered, portable, and this fit the bill. I don't think it's 10 watts and didn't expect it to be, its lowed enough, looks cool, and has a belt clip. I wish I could have picked the color but I like the color I got. You can also power it with a 9v 500ma adapter, but it doesn't come with one. I'd buy another one

  • Top critical review

    Not terrible, but not great.

I bought this amp to practice with at home or on the go. I mainly bought it because I liked the "retro" look. It does indeed look cool, but my main issue is that it produces A LOT of feedback (the AC adapter makes this worse) and when you hit about the 9th fret on the G string, it distorts even if overdrive is turned all the way down and volume is low. I play jazz guitar, so I don't use gain or overdrive...I like a warm clean sound and I can't get that with this amp. I give it 3 stars because it does look nice and makes my guitar louder I guess. And just to be clear, I tried it on multiple guitars...the amp is most def the problem.

  • For the price you won't be disappointed.... as long as you keep in mind you only paid 20 bucks.

It's a battery operated amplifier for less than the cost of a few sets of strings. The first thing I noticed when I played on this.... is how bad it sounded with the gain up. The distortion sounds terrible on this little guy, and should really never be used. If you've got a pedal or effects processor, with the gain turned ALL the way down, this passes as a decent little practice amp if you've got no other option. It's probably a little overrated, but it's the cheapest guitar amp with a speaker you can buy, and for the price it is a good buy.

  • Good little amp for the price, I recommend it.

Ok,so I bought this because I was building some electric instruments and I needed an inexpensive method of testing them and playing them. I'm not a musician, just a builder, so I couldn't see investing in a 'real' amp. I was pleasantly surprised by the sound of the HomeyTone, it makes a pretty big noise for such a small amp. It's certainly enough for a portable pocket amp (and yes it does have a beltclip on it). I appreciated the tone control as most of my instruments don't have one. If I had to point out the cons- I'd say the amp has a lot of feedback hum. This may be because of my setup, using economy cables, un shielded wires on my pickup, that kind of thing, I don't know. But when you crank up the volume you get plenty of background noise. For the price, and it's intended use, I can't ...

  • Handy and Kool ...

I have been building electric guitars for a long time & it's always good to test pickups / knobs, etc. out before you bolt up everything. Handy keeping this on the bench: small, not too loud and it accepts most 9v adapters. It's nice that they include their own brand of battery ~ the powered on light in the switch is smart. I gifted my old one out to a friend and missed it ..... so I got a new one. Plus ... you can't beat the cute factor.
