If you like the 3-position, you are going to LOVE the 5-position!! And it’s actually 6. At least the one that I received has 6 positions. Which is even better if you ask me. It adds more snare sounds to the already bad ass sounds that you get out of your snare. Worth every penny. It transforms your snare into 5/6 snares in one! I’ll be adding this to all my snares. Add a set of PureTone snares and you’ll be the main attraction at your next show! And the envy of all your drummer buddies.

Excellent upgrade!
I love this butt plate. I’ve used the older DW 3-position model for years, but I’ve always thought the three settings are too far apart from each other. When I get the center position sounding good, the “loose” setting seems too loose, and the “tight” setting seems choked. On this 5-position model however, I find the center three settings to be exactly what I want. I do wish they’d make the mounting holes a slot, so you could adjust the spacing of the two mounting screws to fit your drum’s existing holes. (For one Tama drum I have, I drilled new holes in the DW butt plate and tapped them so I didn’t have to drill into my drum shell). Other than that one complaint, it’s an awesome part. I currently have it on 4 snare drums and considering another. I love this butt plate.
