I added these to my kit because the single cymbal sound would get too repetitive during some songs. I needed another cymbal with a higher or lower key. Worked out great. On a side note, I was very much not a supporter of digital drum kits. It had to be acoustic or nothing. As I have gotten older moving an acoustic kit with heavy cymbal hardware in and out of a gig was more work than it was to play. If the Alesis kit is equalized properly, it can sound better than an acoustic kit and have so much flexibility for power rock, Latin like Santana, etc. I know lots of drummers don't like the look of a digital kit. They think it looks like they are playing with a toy. I place a band logo on a large board in front of the kit. Looks fine.
