I thought it might be mass hysteria, but no, this stuff really does sound better than straps. it gives the snare more life, and maybe a little more touch response. Does it sound better than other cord? I dunno. The only downside: It's ORANGE! Really ugly, IMO. Why can't they make this in an off-white?

I like my cord a bit longer than the pre cut version so it is easier to tie off, so it is nice to cut it the way you want it. This cord works well, it is thinner than the standard cord and works great with all the wires I have tried it with.
