I bought this without knowing the problems I would incur. All my non-Mac computers are XP operating systems and my BIOS has a 1.5 TB partition limitation. I lucked out thanks to people with the answers online. I found external HD cases with controllers that DID SUPPORT 3 TB which allowed me to partition each at 2.75 TBs. You people with Windows 7 and 8 probably wouldn't be affected. I violated my own rule of never purchasing extended warrantees on electronics and got the Square Trade thing. My idea was that you can't guarantee the data or information on the device and the value of each device degrades so quickly that it isn't worthy it. In this case however I am using these drives for redundant backup and I'm getting tired of Seagate drive failures. Every drive I've had fail has been a Seagate, so you ask me why did you buy these? I needed 2-3TB drives and I am gambling that I will replace them or back THEM up before they fail.Read full review

I bought 8 of these hard disk bare drives a month ago and used them in QNAP TS-879 Pro. no bad sectors found, and working excellent with no noise at all. very quick in read and right. Highly recommended, and I am going to buy more. Performance: 5 stars Price: 4 stars (because they used to be cheaper before floding promblems in Asia). However, it is still worth the price.
Needed a big HDD for storage and editing of digitized family videos. Works perfectly!
