Yes its not cheap but it has a built in wifi receiver inside so it will take commands from the Chauvet FlareCon transmitter and that takes commands from your Apple or Android phone. The other brand only uses Apple OS phones. You dont need to connect to a DMX controller, but you have to buy the FlareCon which is worth every penny. I place the light anywhere at my weddings, put them away and BOOM!!!!! I saved 45 minutes of down time. Highly recommend. Last week at a wedding venue at 1AM, I was finished packing up my truck. The other DJ was still wrapping up his up light cables.

Very nice quality light. Battery life is very good, it will run for hours at full intensity. I've used them indoors and outdoors both. Tree upighting, Gazebo uplighting for garden weddings. The Freedom Par Tri-6 is one of the brightest in the Chauvet Freedom Par Family. Color saturation and hue is good, color mixing works great. They match the Par Hex 4 for color perfectly and are brighter - they can be placed side-by-side and look exactly the same. D-fi works very well, reliable and range is great. These lights are very well designed and well built. Use SKB cases for them, the Chauvet cases are junk.

The Chauvet Freedom Par Tri-6 is a great lighting fixture. The lights are nice and bright and work well with the built in transmitters/receivers. The only reason I don't give them 5 stars, is because I'd like the batteries to be easily replaceable, they're not. After a few years and many charging cycles the batteries may need to be replaced.
