Wanted a larger front sprocket to help keep chain off of swing arm, and not to have to replace rear sprocket as well.. Many riders of XV250 change to a 17/38 ratio.. I did not initially want to go that low so doing 18/45 is working well.. In spring time may install a 42 rear, if I feel the need to go lower.. More top end MPH Or better use feel of first gear . Much better than original 16 toother. .

The chain on my 2013 Yamaha V Star 250 was just barely long enough to accommodate 18 teeth. The gear ratio is incredibly better than original equipment.
