Got more than expected from the sub side of the amplifier. The four channel side has nice highs and full mids. 13-16 feet of 4 gauge power wire with all channels at 2 ohm this amplifier runs the coolest I've ever seen. Tunning my head unit with the new power in volume in the music was my challenge. Get a real rated amplifier kit. My head unit preouts are 4.5volts into 3pairs of RCA's makes a big difference so to set amplifier gain set at 1.5 for each channel. Use a multimeter to set your gain to get more amplifed power without distortion. This is a great amplifier, its 2 amplifiers in one unit!

When I began looking for an amplifier to run components and in the future a subwoofer in my full-size truck, I decided that a 5-channel amp would be the easiest to install and leave the smallest footprint. As I started narrowing it down, this Kenwood XR900-5 seemed perfect for my needs. I was happy to find one on eBay for far cheaper than other retailers. It's been a great little amp so far. I haven't connected a sub to it, but it pushes plenty of clean power to my Pioneer components. I'm impressed with how small of an amp it actually is. That provides a lot of flexibility in where you mount it. I've always had great success with Kenwood eXcelon products and will continue to use them.

i've had this amp for about 2 years now in a 2016 corolla S. great little amp. powerful. all my speakers are high end kenwoods. I have 2 12" CVR's in a new kicker ported box running at 2 ohm running from a kenwood DNX892 head unit. The system is extremely clean, bass is powerful at full power, you can hear me about 1 and a half blocks away. i can run this amp all day long at full power and NEVER once did it ever overheat. It is mounted under the driver's seat. 0 gauge wire is ran to it so it has plenty of power. It was professionally installed. i never once had to bring it in for troubleshooting. Everyone in my town saw this system as the cleanest and loudest around. I also had 2 layers of dynamat installed. very very clean with no rattling.

Just wanted to share my experience with this little amp! I upgraded my stereo in my corvette and have 2 jl audio amps I was going to use but didn't want to take up the space, so after researching I went with this amp and hooked it up at 4 ohms for everything and I'm still shaking my head on the sound it puts out! Good job kenwood!

Owned the amp new and installed by pro shop. went on a long trip and took a break after two hours using stereo at low volumes. got back in truck and amp would not power up because was off on thermal overload. let set for twenty minutes came back on. two weeks later it is completely out and will not power up at all. this thing gets way too hot to survive any time at all and the sound quality was not too great with not very good head room. output was quite week to boot. I spent a fortune on 4 focal audio speakers and a kenwood sub and box a scrimped on the amp (stupid). took back to my dealer and they issued full credit and installed a focal six channel amp that blows the kenwood out of the water in sound quality, but it costs more than double. Shame on kenwood for producing an amp that is not dependable at all and runs extremely hot.Read full review
