Great value 3.5 digit bench multimeter
If you are looking for a bench meter and 3.5 digits is enough - it is for most general work, then if you can find a working HP3435 for $40 it's recommended. Pros : solid 1980's technology, quality built in the USA with liberal use of gold plating to make it last, with a bright clear 7 segment red LED display. [ I find LCDs by contrast to be hard to read, and with age they can fail ]. Schematics and manuals openly on the web for any repair, or attempts at home recalibrating for the adventurous. A professional grade instruments, no longer economical for calibration or repair by most labs, so available for economical home use if you have the bench space. Cons: Switches are the weak spot - expect careful use of switch cleaner for consistent values on low ranges. Internal batteries are ...
