This was a "replacement" for the same model C86 that I purchased many years ago and would still operate under the OLD Apple 9.2 operating system, that I had a huge data base that I still use, again using the old 9.2 Apple OS. I have maintained this old computer for this sole purpose, to print labels, etc. When my old printer "quit" I tried to purchase to "used" C86 printers for replacement, which failed to work, so when a NIB came on line, I bid and won it and I am extremely pleased with the results. Thank you I Bay for a great service.
This Epson printer is the last model to have Apple OS 9 drivers. I bought this to replace a C86 that had finally printed its final page and was connected to a MAC computer running OS 9.2 with an Audio Editing system that was not updated to MAC OSX due to the expense of updating hardware and plug ins etc. The print quality of the C86 is exceptional. I have a hard time telling the difference between my laser printer and the C86! When Epson manufactured this model (they have discontinued production: replaced by the C88-only supports OSX for MAC)it cost retail about $100, but often sold at about $70 discount. I finally found an ebayer that was selling a used one at a reasonable price. I'm sorry, but a "new" one at $200-300 is a scam. I have not seen one of those ads declare that this model is a discontinued model and any manufactures warranty would be pointless since Epson cannot replace or exchange the exact model. So, buyers beware!Read full review
This about the 5th Epson C86 printer I have purchased. Because they are out of production, I am left with having to purchase refurbished ones on ebay for a price greater than they were when they were new. However, I love the back to back registration capability of this printer. I have a great HP printer that prints with a bit better quality, with less ink consumption, but just will not register on the back side of the paper with the front side printing. Epson is excellent in this respect. Of course I wish the printer did not consume ink the way it does, but all printers seem to do that.
I have been using the Epson Stylus inkjet printers ( C84, C86, C66) since they came out. I love the quality of their print. It was difficult to set-up because I could not download an updated driver for it. Per Epson's website, it was to download automatically with Windows 10 but it didn't. Set-up has always been a long process for these older printers but so far I have prevailed. This time, after days of research, I stumbled across the fact I could use my old C84 driver that I had already went through the process of updating.

This is a replacement printer for the same model. It is so easy to use. It has individual ink cartridges so you can replace only the one that is empty. You can also order the replacement cartridges on ebay that are compatible and work great. Saves a lot of money by not having to buy the epson brand. Just used this to make our son's wedding invitations and they looked as good as the professional ones that cost about 10 times as much. This is my third one and I love it. Only replaced when I made the invitations. Gave the old one to our son and it still works great. I would highly recommend this printer and haven't found anything that I dislike about it.
