A good introduction to a primary historical event.
I was not aware of this production from the early 90s until recently, and I was anxious to see it once I knew of its existence. The production values are good, and the events of this important incident in the days leading up to America's break from Britain are portrayed with some sensitivity and realism. The only problem with the film is that it could have been longer and should have had a sequel. Great portrayal of a teenage boy on Lexington Green
I first saw this movie when it came on TV in the 1980's on Hallmark Hall of Fame, and managed to tape it on my VCR. It is the story of a teenage boy living in Lexington, Massachusetts at the start of the American Revolution, and his taking the first steps into manhood on the day that started the war. The Battle of Lexington is portrayed fairly well with excellent build-up, followed by the fighting all along the road to and from Concord. Without giving away too much detail, it very well portrays the uncertainty of deciding what to do about the British foray into their area, not just in the town but within the family. Some of the battle scenes are very well done, others less so. There is a bit of romance as well. All in all it is a feel-good movie, at times very charming, and in the end ... Excellent representation of the Battle of Lexington and what it may have been like. For the History buff, the curious minded or just the average person who likes clean wholesome movies. Tommy Lee Jones and Robert Urich nail their parts and bring a realistic vibe to a factual event in History.
