Versatile pedal.
I was looking for a decent sounding low to medium gain overdrive. The Looking Glass fits the category quite nicely. If I was to characterize the type of overdrive this unit has, I would say it reminds me of an overdriven Fender amp. As opposed to a Marshall (tight)or Vox (smooth/sparkly)type overdrive. The breakup in this pedal is a little looser. It is almost transparent, but you can get very close to dialing in your original tone. With the gain switch option, you have a wide range of gain. Bass, treble and a fair amount of mid frequencies are adjustable. An excellent yet specialized overdrive
A particularly good overdrive pedal if you are seeking articulation for complex chords, or to lay down bright ringing arpeggios). The EQ curve has been very well chosen, it has a very spare bass response but a lot of detailed mid range information which gets reigned back as the frequencies pass above what we might call 'glassy' so the Looking Glass never becoming irritatingly brittle. The distortion itself is not quite as smokey/rich as the Bogner Wessex (which cost about $100 more), nor quite as amp-like, but I intend to keep and use both. Highly transparent, low to high gain; boost to hard clipping. Crisp breakup to crunchy dirt. Great tone eq like it’s a preamp. So let be better if it was dual pedal or a second foot switch like the RC 2.
