    Quite an outback adventure

This is one way to add growing terror to a school outing! Caught in the out back shepherding a bunch of kids is tough enough but get separated from your support while gaining the attention of a bullies/crooks is going to ruin the day. Thank heaven Rachel W can swim. I enjoyed it

  • Made every '80's kid want an Aussie teacher.

This movie scared the crap out of me when I was a kid, and I recently rented it from Netflix to see if it was as good as I remember. Obviously, it was, and I bought a copy that night. I loved this movie because it wasn't in the impossible realm. It COULD happen. There are no monsters, ghosts or giant animals. It's just an Aussie teacher and her class trying to escape a bunch of ransom hungry kidnappers. To protect their identities they all wear these creepy masks that almost make them look cute. Almost. They really just end up making them look creepier than a hockey mask would. If you're reading this review, chances are you've already seen the movie as a kid, and you're trying to find out if it's still as good as you remember. Let me tell you. IT IS! Completely happy that I decided to ...

  • A film of getting down to what matters most in survival

A great film set in a rural outback setting where kidnappers take a school house and it's occupants away for ransom. Teachers and students must overcome their normal quarrels to overcome opposition and their own fears. Together they build their own fortress to make a stand and fight back after escaping and after defeating the mask wearing bad men the bond built is strong and must stand together even after returning to real world

  • DVD - The Fortress

I had been looking for this movie since the late 1980's with no success. At that time it was only on VHS of course. I was so happy when I found this site with such a great selection. I was reluctant to watch it thinking that since it was that old maybe the version had been changed because at this time it was on DVD. The movie was the same exact version as we watched in the 80's. As described, new, it was still in the package, I was thrilled and so were my two sons who of course now are 33 and 28. I would SO recommend this site to everyone, especially if you've been looking for a movie you've had no success finding.

  • Held my interest through the entire film.

Unique story line set in Australia about school children and their teacher getting kidnapped by oddly masked bad guys. It follows the capture, the escape and finally a standoff with the kidnappers from a fortress in the rocks on top of a mountain. Great acting by all including the children who play significant roles. Filmed on location with great scenes in the Australian wilderness. I recommend this movie for suspense and action for people of all ages. Smaller children may dread the masks and the theme of the story involving kidnapped children.
