These are well regarded classic analog oscilloscopes. They are very well designed and offer excellent quality and performance. Given the age of these oscilloscopes it is highly recommended that you replace the electrolytic capacitors in the power supply section. Use the right type in the right location. [Do that BEFORE a failure that causes semiconductor damage!!!] In particular use 105C long life low ESR capacitors designed for SMPS (switch mode power supplies) to replace the low ESR capacitors in the power supply. Panasonic or Nichicon of the right series are recommended. Replace all of them. Don't go by visuals after 30 years of service life. A proper recapping job done by a competent individual will allow many more years of good performance from these important analog oscilloscopes. These tools are worth preserving and maintaining. Also watch out for any Rifa paper capacitors that need to be properly replaced with the right type of safety capacitor. (They are found in some Tektronix oscilloscopes.)Read full review

I'll start by saying I've just recently ventured further into hobby electronics. I came from years of R/C but they were all RTR. I want to do more "make" electronics (i.e. Arduino, Ras Pi, etc). From what little I do know about Oscilloscopes, Tektronix is in the top tier of brands. This is a early-mid 80's machine and the screen is still bright as it was new. I was able to get it calibrated within 10 minutes and it's almost perfectly dialed in. I do wish the verticals had x10 calibration but the horizontal does and that will be good enough. So far I'll say the 2213A is light weight for it's size (it has a lot of depth so make sure you have room). A lot of vintage Tek scopes are still going for $200+ but this one can be had for less than $100 and I think it's worth every penny. Don't settle for a banged up unit, you can find one in near mint condition like I did. The only other one I was considering at the time was a 465 but They were a little higher than I wanted to pay. For a start scope 60mhz was perfect (I was actually looking for a 20mhz unit), more than I needed right now actually.Read full review
I remember using this make and model (too many) years ago. The price (I got it for) was FANTASTIC! It is 'only' a 60mhz 'scope, but I do not need anything faster. I only wish it had the pouch on top (for probes, cables, etc.), but that is so minor a 'problem' as to not exist. This unit is clean, and still seems calibrated (still looking for a 'standard' frequency besides 60hz to check it with). If you are looking for a 'scope, Tektronics is the one I would recommend

For the price, I was expecting this scope to be showing more signs of age & wear, or for it to not be functioning properly... but I was pleasantly surprised! Everything seems to be functioning very well & it does all that I need it to. And it is in pretty decent condition cosmetically too! I'm a happy camper!!

The item is not being used at present, May become parts. It did look like a good deal, both cleanliness and price wise. Needed to look closer befor bidding, The bottom left corner of the Cathode ray tube looks like it took a hit at sometime. Does not lite up and never will!! it is broken, but the rest looks great! I am currently looking for one that is half beat to death that still has a good tube! We shall see! If a deal looks TOO good, it probably is!
