The Bang & Olufsen BeoSound 9000 has a carriage that moves between six CD compartments, enabling easy playback of your favorite albums. The glass-covered natural aluminum plate holds the CD carriage in place. Meanwhile, the backlit acrylic display interface on the CD player lets you view the album and song title that is currently being played. This audio player contains an extensive operation panel with several buttons that are functionally grouped, enabling easy access for operating the player. Timer, editing, and sound adjustment controls are all present just beneath the player's lid. It can also be controlled by the optional B&O Beo4 remote control. The discs are loaded and held in place by the player's spring-suspended jaws while discs not in play can be easily replaced without interrupting the playback. The Bang & Olufsen BeoSound 9000 six-CD music player works so quickly that the changeover between two CDs lasts no longer than a few brief seconds. In order to distinguish between different discs, up to 200 CD titles can be named and entered into the memory, and that name will appear on the display whenever the CD is active. Memorized CDs will be left in the same position as they were loaded, with the title clearly visible. The auto-positioning feature also ensures that CDs are always returned to the position in which they were first placed. For added convenience, the Bang & Olufsen BeoSound 9000 operates in seven different positions. It can be placed vertically or horizontally, on the wall, or on the specially designed stand. Its design facilitates easy operation. Even if the CD player is mounted vertically, a digital time controller is constantly monitoring movement and adjusting the motor in order to counteract the effects of gravity. This ensures that movement is always kept within 3.5 to 4 seconds. When mounted vertically, this system can stand between a pair of B&O loudspeakers. The Bang & Olufsen BeoSound 9000 also features plenty of safety mechanisms to ensure that the system is safe to operate. If the glass door is ever lifted prematurely while the system is still active, then the CD clamper will stop immediately. If the B&O BeoSound 9000 ever falls from its vertical mounting, then a power failure feature will prevent the clamper from being damaged. Thanks to the integrated stereo FM/AM tuner, you can also enjoy audio from your favorite radio stations. This B&O device can memorize up to 60 different FM and AM stations by their names instead of their frequency numbers. By downloading the special B&O BeoLink software application, the BeoSound 9000 can access the digital music files on your computer or connect directly to the BeoVision Avant and AV9000 accessories. The BeoSound 9000 contains an auxiliary input, headphones jack, and S/PDIF digital output.

    Classy Rube Goldberg piece of art

    It generally looks classy and is a work of art - in a Rube Goldberg sort of way. But the units feels heavy and clunky. Buttons are in all the wrong places and integrating with a non-B&O system is not trivial. It works as expected now, but I worry for the day critical features quit working and there is no repair recourse other than blogs or independent repair shops. But hey, I'm now part and parcel of the Bang & Olufsen cult.

    Wow, but tricky and pricey, but worth every dollars

    While one of the world best designed and sounding CD player, B&O Beosound 9000 can be a challenging machine to adjust. Once such is acheived, one has the best looking and audiophile machine. For most the best matching speakers would be a pair of either Penta, 8000 plus a su woofer, or the surprising Beolab 4000. And please set it up a multi room environment with some Beolab 2500 for an incredible sounding adventure. While the Beolab 3500 and Beolab do look great, they are lacking such bass that only classical music lovers will enjoy them. As said the best looking CD player in the world, and if speakers are properly choosen, the best sounding as well. And try to get the Mk 2 or 3 so you can easily integrate your computer ( N Music and N Radio , meaning internet from B&O) in the mix Hope ...

    Beosound 9000: A Masterpiece

    I love the Beosound 9000, not just for it's masterful technology but, it masterpiece of art. I love it on my wall. It took a little bit to understand the setup, but after reading the manual and find the right cables ( I routed the signal through my Yahama Receiver) everything was quite simple. Love the sound.
