    Reasonable quality solenoid

    I use this relay to switch a 100amp, inductive load. The coil is driven by a N-chn MOSFET in my circuit. the coil draws about 4.5 amps with a 12vdc drive. The relay will pull-in with 2.8 amps,limit, but is slow. I mention that quality is a 'no' only because one of the contact terminals is physically scewed (possibly contacts don't align properly). However, it is solid and does not impend operation of the solenoid. I don't have a way to accurately measure 'made' contact resistance , but I estimate resistance to be less than 250 mohm. Better quality control would have caught the terminal alignment issue. So far , I have had aprox. 250 switch operations (make and break). So if you are not critical of aesthetics this is a good buy.

  • Works well IF you know how to hook it up!!!

    Relay works well IF you realize that the Primary Terminals are NOT independent. The Positive primary terminal does hook to the coil, but the Negative primary terminal does not, and the relay will NOT function unless the FRAME of the relay shares a common negative ground. Basically, if the Frame of the relay is tied to the Negative primary terminal or shares the negative circuit, the relay functions properly. All negative reviews (including mine) that says the relay does not work, fail to understand this property. If the Frame of the relay is tied to, or shares, the negative side of the primary input, the relay functions properly.

  • Good quality replacement solenoid on a 42" MTD YardMachine lawn tractor.

    I ordered this solenoid to replace a bad solenoid on a MTD YardMachine lawn tractor since I've replaced two of the factory units since they aren't handling the starter cranking. This tractor has had 3 factory units on it and all did the same thing, burnout. The mounting holes on the original solenoids looked like they were made for this solenoid and the manufacturer went with the cheap quality units. The solenoid was a direct bolt-on and the leads only had to be slightly modified for it. This solenoid has a world difference in quality compared to the factory units!

    Damaged in shipping. Solenoid Relay was not packaged for shipping. One of the four plastic ears on metal end was broken off and rivet was exposed. I did not even try using it.
