On a whim, I replaced my DiMarzio Evolution pickup with this "1984" model humbucker in a EVH 5150 guitar copy that I made. The pickup sounds fantastic, and much more accurate to the tone on the 1984 album and tour than the Evolution, which had a bit too much gain and was a bit "tight". This pickup feels a bit more open, harmonically. Excellent value. I'll be buying more for the other VH copy guitars.

The pickup itself was a little weaker than advertised (7.6K on a warm day compared to the advertised 8.2K) but I understand there's going to be variance between pickup winds and the pickup itself sounds fantastic and feels of great quality.
