Hard to find part
For anyone who loves and works on old Harley Ironhead Sportsters, you know that one of the hardest parts to find is the gearcase breather valves. Most of these old bikes have this part removed for one reason or another and a lot of people do not realize just how important this little part is. It is a check valve that allows air into the engine in one direction only and helps prevent oil from being pumped out of the vent tube. As many people know, if an ironhead sits for a while, all of the oil will drain down to the bottom of the engine and when you go to start it all of that oil will pump out of the breather tube until the oil is able to recirculate back up tp the oil tank. These check valves are very difficult to find, so if you happen to find one it would be wise to get it and avoid the ...
