Kevin Spacey's intensity as an alien/mental patient (?) makes K-PAX rock! Ably supported by Jeff Bridges who plays his psychiatrist. Together they make what could be a tedious movie come alive. Spacey's deadpan delivery presents some classic dialogue between his character Prot and Dr. Mark Powell played by Jeff Bridges. Prot informs Powell, “I'm an alien. Don't worry, I'm not going to leap out of your chest.” Later Prot tries to explain his appearance to Powell, by opining, “Why is a soap bubble round? Because it is the most energy efficient configuration. Similarly, on your planet I look like you; on K-PAX I look like a K-PAXian.“ During one of their sessions Prot is offered fruit and, to the amazement of the audience, he munches a banana without peeling it, and upon completing his treat he tells Powell, “Your produce alone has been worth the trip.” Prot connects with the other patients in his ward and enables them to heal more efficiently than the professionals who have been "warehousing" them. Prot also is able to both connect emotionally with Dr. Mark Powell and cause Powell to wonder if Prot is in fact from K-PAX. Then Prot enables Powell to bridge the emotional chasm he has with his son by an earlier message. It is a Powell’s painful duty to pursue his investigation to determine, or disprove Prot’s identity. Powell’s investigation results in a confrontation between the two, and leads Prot to comment, “I will admit the possibility that I am Robert Porter, if you will admit the possibility that I am from K-PAX. Now if you'll excuse me, I have a beam of light to catch.” The ensuing ending is poignantly disappointing, but overall it is a fun film to watch.Read full review
I saw this in the theatre, and always thought it was one of Spacey's best performances. This thoughtful drama keeps you guessing until the very end (and beyond, where did Bess go anyway?) as to whether Prout (Spacey) really is or isn't from planet K-PAX. Jeff bridges also has an excellent supporting role as the psychologist assigned to Prout's case. The wide screen format does a great job showing the turmoil of Grand Central in the opening screens, and the bleakness of the Manhatten "EL" as Bridges takes it in and out of the city. 3 stars for sure.
This movie is great. Wanted it on Blu Ray but since he’s drummed out of the industry and his life is basically over as an actor and as a human being, it probably won’t be coming on blu so I bought the DVD. Thank goodness for upscaling. Kev will be missed as an actor he was one of my favorites.

Definitely a film that did not get the attention that it deserved. Prot(played by Kevin Spacey)claims to be from another planet. He has uncanny psychic abilities. Jeff Bridges plays the Psychiatrist trying to get into Prot's brain to find out what is going on. The supporting roles of the other mental patients in the hospital with Prot are awesome! A definite must see.
Haven't had time to watch this CD but know the movie and characters are good. Since this is a Collectors Edition, I'm hoping to see both endings are available when I do watch it.
