It's okay, still trying to figure out how to get real distortion

This is not a metal zone pedal to play Black Sabbath, but it may work on some rolling stones type of music. I'm still trying to figure out how to set it up to get some good distortion.

  • Good, well built pedal. Not the sound I'm looking for.

I bought this pedal looking for that early 80's heavy metal sound. It's a solid, well built pedal and has plenty of distortion. It made my amp sound really thin though. So, while I thought it was a good pedal it wasn't the sound I was looking for. I have since sold it and bought an MXR Super Badass '78 pedal. And I really like it. It has more of what I'm looking for. You can get a Distortion+ for an inexpensive price on ebay. Buy one and if you don't like it you can resell it. Cheers.

  • The real deal

This the classic tone you wanna get if you dig rocknroll. It gives a nice little boost in the low mids, if you like to palm mute its a must. I use it as a boost, but sometimes i just leave it on cause it sounds so good. You can have little or more distortion, its stil gonna be clear. Cant believe i didnt find this box earlier. Just great! Build like a tank as well. My box is older than me btw..

  • That classic Randy Rhoads sound

This is a noisy pedal, but it is extremely unique and gives you a chiming, crystalline tone. Perfect for front ending a tube amp. Used on it’s own it won’t give you much as far as high gain metal style distortion, but it’s perfect for adding that extra color to overdriven tubes.

  • Kicks raw ass.

May not be the "Script Logo" pre-Dunlop MXR Distortion +, but sounds amazing to me. This is a warm yet sharp distortion that has a unique character and sounds quite different from other common distortion pedals like the Boss DS-1. You can get really extreme distortion without losing your tone character and it was used by (vintage Script, but whatever) Roland S. Howard in The Birthday Party, Bob Mould in Hüsker Dü, and Guy Picciotto in Fugazi, to name a few iconic Post-Punk guitarists. It's built like a tank and looks classic and minimal. Love it.
